Jeff Christ

Hello, my name is Jeff Christ and I am the principal at Walker Butte K-8. This is my first year as the principal here, though some may know me from when I was here a few years ago as the dean of students and athletic director. This is my 12th year in the district overall. I taught 7th/8th grade math at Circle Cross Ranch for six years, before moving to Walker Butte as the dean of students. I went back to Circle Cross after two years to become the assistant principal. After three years there, I was very excited to be named the principal here at Walker Butte as it was somewhat of a homecoming for me. I believe in pushing kids to reach their highest potential.

Outside of school, I love to spend time with my wife, our two kids, and our two dogs.

I am beginning my 11th year within the Florence Unified School District. After earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from Eastern Michigan University, I obtained a teaching position with the Bullhead City Elementary School District. After 5 years of middle school teaching experience, I earned a master's degree in educational leadership from Northern Arizona University and transitioned into an administrative role. From there, I worked as a dean of students and assistant principal, before taking the role of elementary principal in the winter of 2017. Working at FUSD has been such a tremendous opportunity and allowed me to build great relationships with the school communities.

Being a parent to two boys has given me a lens to see how the K-8th grade journey impacts students and their motivation for learning throughout their educational careers. It is my mission, as an educator and administrator, to instill a passion for learning that goes beyond the classroom and continues throughout life. I want all our students and staff to feel empowered and engaged in their own education. This includes the many extracurricular activities we offer, encompassing a well-rounded educational experience.

I look forward to supporting the children and families of our outstanding community. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions, concerns, or “Shout Outs!” to celebrate!

Rhonda Story

Hi, my name is Rhonda Story. This is my first year as an instructional coach, but my 27th year of teaching. This is my 5th year at Walker Butte!! I have taught 12 years as a General Education Teacher in grades: 1st, 3rd, 5th, 6th and 7th/8th grade ELA and 14 years as a Special Education Teacher. As a special education teacher, I have taught  in cross cat classes, elementary resource classrooms, and in junior high inclusion and resource classrooms. I have been a mentor teacher, worked with PTOs, and sponsored the Student Council as well. In all these years, I have gained so much knowledge of the curriculum and working with children. That is why I’m excited to now be in a position where I can share my knowledge and collaborate with the teachers at Walker Butte and across the district.

When I’m not at Walker Butte, I enjoy spending time with my family. We like to go camping, visit the beach, go hiking, and go to the movies. We also love spending time working on our flower gardens in our yard.
