Walker Butte students continue to discover and develop their leadership skills. They are developing into school ambassadors, campus cleanliness leaders, lunchroom and hallway leaders and numerous other types of leaders. We are developing relations with other Leader In Me schools in the Phoenix area and are looking forward to participating in the Leader In Me symposium that will be held in Mesa in March 2015.
On November 20th we hosted a reading and math game night for kindergarten through 2nd grade students, parents and family members. The evening was well-attended and great fun. The event was organized by our reading specialist, Mrs. Candace Campbell with assistance from Mrs. Lincoln, Mrs. Klotz, Ms. Semo, Mr. and Mrs. Bustos, Mr. and Mrs. Romero and the school administration. Several similar events will be planned and held later in the school year.
We are looking forward to the winter break and time with our families and friends. Before the break our staff will be sponsoring some of our less fortunate students’ holidays in an effort to make the season a happy one for all. Gifts will be provided suited the age, gender and interest of the students anonymously in the true Spirit of the season.
On December the 15th our hard-working staff will again volunteer a day of their vacation to receive another day of training from our Leader In Me coach. This training will mark the beginning of implementing the philosophy fully at the student level. The second semester of the school year will be an exciting one for students and staff alike!
In closing we would like to thank all you for your support. School board trustees, parents, community members, district administration and so many others all help make our progress and achievements possible. Along with our sincere thanks, we wish you a happy holiday season and a prosperous new year!
